Crouched in invasion barges, American soldiers invade Holtz Bay at Attu, the Aleutians, under cover of the endless fog that constantly hovers over the area. In a surprise attack, U.S. forces made two separate landings, then cut across the island in a pincers move that closed off the Japanese garrison in a pocket.
