Brigade General Edward W. Anderson, Wing Commander, pins the Distinguished Service Cross, second highest American award, on the blouse of Major George E. Preddy, a P-51 Mustang squadron operations officer. Major Preddy was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for destroying six ME 109s on a single mission, in the Hamburg area of Germany on August 6, 1944
